Anger management needed
Anger, Miscarriage, Relationship - additional counselling

Miscarriage, Anger and Relationship counselling

I occasionally provide counselling for Miscarriage, Relationship and Anger, or at least Anger Management.

Miscarriage, is of course a very upsetting event. Issues like anxiety, fear (of miscarriage or still birth happening again), and depression occur. I have handled these, and am fully aware of the sensitivity around miscarriage.

Anger and Anger Management are common. Many times it is related to a past event. We would expect to talk through these points and try to find a specific problem and learn some management techniques for our anger.

Relationship and/or relationships. Sometimes it is a specific relationship that is troubling, others it is about building or maintaining relationships.

I do not do couples counselling – that is a different approach. I do help clients with relationship issues. In building a trust with one person, it is not ethical to start providing counselling for the other person in the relationship. If the other party wanted counselling, I would refer them to a colleague of mine. If you needed couples specific counselling I would refer you to a colleague who handles this from the start.

I do not handle stillbirth, I would refer to a specialist organisation

Counselling Assessment and Sessions

When you first call me, we will have a short assessment of what is bothering you. We may need to do this in more depth at your first session. The objective is for you to feel comfortable with me as your counsellor for the purpose of deciding if we can work together. If that is the case, we would aim to commence within 2 weeks.

At the first meeting we will go into greater detail and may create some objectives for our work.

A counselling therapy session is 50 minutes of counselling plus a couple of minutes of introduction.  Our first full meeting we may well go over the hour.

I may use more than one therapy technique specifically for your needs. I am trained to use person centred and psychodynamic counselling approaches.

Half a dozen sessions are normal for a therapist to achieve the objectives, but this is a guide. Frequently you will have improved sufficiently before then to complete our time together. Occasionally we may require more time.
